FIRE ON STEAMER.
MAKING FOR ALBANY.
FLAMES UNDER CONTROL.
SYDNEY, Bept. 20.
An Irish steamer, the Knockfierna (5285 tons), en route to Melbourne from Immingham, is making for Albany wjth a fire in her coal in No; 1 hold.
A wireless message from the captain of tho vessel stated that the coal was very hot and was giving off a heavy quantity of gas continuously. There was no immediate danger, however, and the firo was being kept under control.
