PARAFFIN FIRE OUT.
DESTRUCTION AT HULL.
ADJACENT TANKS ESCAPE.
(Received September 20. 5.25 p.m.) British Wireless. ItUGBY, Sept. 19. The paraflin fire at Hull which, after burning 24 hours, was still blazing furiously yesterday morning, died down later in tho day. It did not cxplodo other tanks or set fire to the inflammable material in the neighbourhood. There was constant danger of this becauso tho sides of th<s blazing tank fell inwards and it was feared that the paraflin might escape. A deep trench was dug round tho tank to minimiso the risk.
Experts arc amazed at tho manner in which the adjacent tanks withstood the terrific heat. A tribute is paid to tho bravery and endurance of tho firomen and tho employees of the oil firm. It is estimated that 300,000 gallons of parafiin were destroyed.
