AUCKLAND-BUILT SHIP.
PLANS FOR NEW VESSEL"*
LARGE AUXILIARY SCHOONER.
The construction of a vessel larger than any built in Auckland for several year* is to be undertaken by the firm of George NiccoL It is expected that the craft, ; a two-masted schooner, to be equipped with motor-power, will take the water early next year to engage in the coastal trade. The plans provide for a vessel' approximating in size the Northern Steamship Company's auxiliary Bchooner Ronaki, but larger than the coastal vessels Hokianga and Foxton, both of which were built in these yardß. The new ship will have a length of 112 ft., a beam of 27ft,» and a depth of 9ft., and will carry about 300 tons of cargo on a 7ft. draught. Although it has not yet been decided exactly what type of motor engine will be installed, it is expected that, the ship will bo fully powered with a Diesel unit.
