NEW COMMODORE ARRIVING.
AUCKLAND CEREMONIES TO-DAY.
With the new commodore of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, Commodore G. Blake, D.5.0., on board, the flagship, H.M.S. Dunedin, is expected to arrive from Wellington about 9-30 o'clock this morning, and will receive a salute of 11 guns from H.M.S. Philomel. The flagship will reply with five guns and berth immediately at the Sheerlegs Wharf. Later in the morning, Commander Nelson Clover, commander of the Philomel, will call upon Commodore Blake.
At 2 o'clock this afternoon Commodore Blake will call upon Archbishop Averill, Primate of New Zealand, and at 2.30 he will call upon tho Mayor, Mr. George Baildon. At 2.45 he will call upon the chairman of the Harffour Board, Mr. M. H. Wynyard. The archbishop will not be able to pay a return call, but the Mayor and chairman of the Harbour Board will do so.
The ceremony of transferring command of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy took place in Wellington on September 9, following the arrival from England by the Rotorua of the new commodore with his family.
H.M.S. Diomedo is now' in dock at Auckland, and will leave for England in October for a refit, taking about half the crew and 19 officers of the Dunedin, who have completed two years' service in New Zealand. The complement of the Dunedin will be made up by the transfer of a similar number of officers and men from the Diomede, who have yet to complete their service on the New Zealand station.
On September 30 the Dunedin will leave on a cruise to be arranged by the new commodore.
