Tragedy attended a meeting of the Gisborne Bowling Club this evening, when a prominent member, Mr. Samuel Joseph Henry Moncrieff, aged 72, a retired civil servant, collapsed and died almost immediately. Mr. Moncrieff had just submitted an amendment to a motion regarding the laying out of the green, and had outlined his own plan, when he sat down suddenly, and death occurred within a few minutes. He was highly esteemed in bowling circles and was treasurer o r the club He leaves a widow and two daughters.
