HAWERA. Thursday
While crossing the Hawera .railway yards at six o'clock this evening Samuel Brown, aged 19, a cadet in the railway goods office, jumped between some standing waggons. Ho was struck and knocked between the wheels of the front truck of a number being shunted with an engine in the rear.
Brown suffered terrible injuries, including the severance of both legs. He. .died within half an hour while being taken to the hospital by ambulance. His parents reside in Dunedin.
