IMPORTANT YEAR REVIEWED.

WHANGAREI, Wednesday

The annual meeting of tho Whangarei Cricket Association was held last evening.

Tho retiring president, Mr. H. Flewellyn, presented a report, which tihowed that tho past season was a very important one for cricket iu Whangarei and for North Auckland. The ground committeo had made a determined eflort to provide a permanent ground for cricket. A lease under very favourable terms had been signed with the Harbour Board for 21 years, with a right of renewal for a further 21 years. Ihe ground had been thoroughly dried, levelled and sown and in spite of unfavourable weather the grass had taken well. It should be in suitable order for playing on during the coming season. Up to date £207 15a had been spent on tho now ground and there was still £OO in hand in the ground account out of tho original sum of £3SG 15s obtained from the joint queen carnival with the Hockey Association.

The ordiuary balance-sheet shewed that the season had been an expensive one, mainly owing to the visit and entertainment of representative teams. Beginning the season with a balance of £ll 1-ls tho cssociation had liabilities amounting to £lO lUs at the close.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr. A. J Murdoch. M.P.; president, Mr. E. T. Gash; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. E. Danes; auditor, Mr. R. R Roseman; grounds committee, Messrs. G. L. Whimp, A. Drever, R. Jennings, B. Flewellyn and W. G. Grove.

The presentation of a gold medal, donated by Mr. Flewellyn, to the player who took most, catches during last season was made lo E. T. Gash.

THE FRANKTON CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Frankton Cricket Club was held last ovening, Mr. A. Connolly presiding. Tho committee reported that boys had been encouraged by being given free membership, and hnd benefited und assisted tho junior team. The club had not been successful in the competitions and had had difficulty in fielding teams. The A team was third in the championship. A net profit of £8 had been made on the year's operations.

The following were elected the principal office bearers:—Patron. Mr. W. S. Higgins; president, Mr. A. Connolly; secretary, Mr. T. A. Ewen; club captain, Mr. C. Munn.

BOWLING.

TOURNEY AT MOUNT EDEN.

The Mount Eden Bowling Club held an nil-day tournament yesterday, there being a large number of contestants. The weather was fine and the greens in good running order. Following were the results of the play:— Section A.—Hosking, 1 win, 1 losses; Jenkins, 1 win, 4 losses; Bridgers, 3 wins, 2 losses; Thomas. 2 wins. 3 losses; Baizley, 3 wins, 2 losses; Hallows, 3 wins, 2 losses; Flowerday, 3 wins. 2 losses. Flowerday won tho section.

Section B—Lorain, 2 wins, 3 losses; Parsons, 4 wins, 1 loss; Parker-Hill, 4 wins, 1 loss; Nash. 2 wins, 3 losses; Trayes. 3 wins, 2 losses; Keith, 2 wins, 5 losses; Russell, 2 wins, 3 losses. Parker-Hill won the section.

Section C. —Fraser. 3 wins. 2 losses; MePherson, 2 wins, 3 losses; Fletcher, 2 wins, 3 losses: Lundon. 3 wins, 2 losses: East, 3 wins, 2 losses; Knight, 4 win, 1 loss. Knight won the section.

Section D.—Alleley. 3 wins, 2 losses; Gatland, 3 wins, 2 losses; Clarko, 3 wins. 2 losses; Morgan, 2 wins. 3 losses; Stanley. 2 wins, 3 losses; Robertson, 4 wins, 1 loss. Robertson won the section.
