MOTORIST FINED FIVE POUNDS.

HAMILTON. Wednesday,
A fine of £5 was imposed on Samuel Arthur Mcphan in tho Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day for driving his motorcar in a dangerous manner. Evidence was given that defendant passed over tho Victoria Street railway crossing, Hamilton, at 40 miles an hour, and paid no attention to the warning to stop, although a train was about to pass over the street.

Evidence that ho had had to travel at from 60 to 65 miles an hour to overtake Dr. R. H. Baxter, when the latter was driving his car from Brighton to town, via Bower Bridge, was given in tho Magistrate's Court by a traffic inspector, S. F. Napper, when Dr. Baxter was chargod with driving at a dangerous speedy Defendant was fined £3.
