MOTOR MANUFACTURE.
USE OF LOCAL MATERIAL
PLANS OF AMERICAN FIRM
The possibilities of using more local products in tho manufacture of motorcars in New Zealand arc to bo investigated by executive representatives of General Mot ors Corporation, who arrived at Auckland by the Makura yesterday. They are Messrs. 11. Staudingcr and H. W. Souler, both of whom expect to spend about a fortnight in New Zealand. Another passenger on the Makura was Mr. H. If. Metzger, local treasurer of General Motors, who has returned from a trip to the United States.
" We are an American firm, but since wo are manufacturing motor-cars in Now Zealand we wish to use ns much New Zealand material as possible," Mr. Staudingcr said. " Metal has to be imported, but oilier material can bo produced locally and wo wish to make arrangements for a supply."
