MEN REFUSE TO COMPROMISE
DECISION OF COUNCIL
(Received August 12. 11.45 p.m.) SYDNKY, Aug. 12
An important meeting of the Coalminers' Council was held at Sydney to-day. It was decided to repudiate the overtures for a compromise with the owners, as pioposed by the executive of the Enginedrivers' Union a fortnight ago. The Miners' Council still adheres to its policy of no reduction in wages.
