MOTOR-BUS TOO HEAVY.
A PROPOSED SERVICE,
COUNCIL REFUSES APPLICATION
[Br TEIiEGRArH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE, Monday.
Permission to uso a motor-bus weighing, when loaded, over six tons on tho Runciman-Paerata-Pukekoho Road was refused by tho Franklin County Council to-day.
Tho request "was made by Mr. J. W. Wheeler, who stated at tho previous meeting that he had ordered tho chassis and put the body work in hand before being awaro that tho council's classification limited tho weight that could traverse the road to six ton 3. The bus would seat 23 persons and it was intended to use it on the Auckland-Pukekoho scr*
"nee. Reporting on tho matter to-day, the county engineer, Mr. J. F. McArthur, said information had been received that the new bus, fully loaded, weighed B*r tons. Between Papakura and Pukekohe thero were three bridges, which, with light repairs, would stand a weight up to seven tons, but on no account should vehicles exceeding this weight bo permitted to cross these bridges. The council decided that, in view of tho engineer's report, it had no option but to decline tho request.
