THE MOTHERS' CLUB.
A very pleasant, social afternoon was spent in the clubroorn of the Y.W.C.A. this week, when about ono hundred members and friends of the .Mothers' Club gathered to bid farewell to Mrs. Rankin, ''one of the club's first members," who is leaving on a visit to Australia. During the afternoon tno following items were rrjven ■—Songs by Mesdnnies Dickens, Ball, Strange, McLellan and Baker, elocutionary items, Mesdames Pankhurst, Mann and Miss Molly Morris; pianoforte solos, Mr. J. McLellan. Mrs. Forest was the pianist. A competition was held and was won by Mrs Pankhurst. Mrs. Rankin was the recipient of a bouquet presented yy the president and a travelling cushion presented by Mrs. Henderson, on behalf of the members of the club. Ihe oppoitunitv was taken to present posies of violets*to "past officers," tho presentations heing carried out by Mrs. J»<inkin, who made a gift of a table centre to the club. Another presentation was that of .1 supper set, to Mrs. Mrdland, who was recently married. Tho afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of "Aulcl Lang Sync" and the National Antheni."
