'ln No. 14 district subsidy offers by the Highways Board amounting to approximately £60,000 have been accepted, in addition to money for the completion of payments on paving at Paparua. Mr. Wynyard says no proposals involving £160,000 have been submitted to tho board. Tho hoard would consider now proposals as they were received and local bodies would bo advisoil when new works could start. It was desired to support programmes to lho limits of available finance, Last year tho board furnished £240,000 for South Island road construction, and this year no less than £386,000 had been provided.
