At llio request of Now Zealanders in London tho High Commissioner, Sir James Parr, lias opened a fund to alleviate tho distress caused in the earthquake areas in the Dominion. The excellent response made indicates that a splendid total will be reached. THE MAYOR'S FUND. FURTHER £4l RECEIVED. Contributions amounting to £4l Os 6d were received for the Mayor s ouithquaks relief fund on Saturday. Details are:— Sanford. Limited, £ls 15s: Mount Wellington Road Board and Grunter Bros., £lO 10s each; Revhiti Croquet Club, Remuera, £2 10s 6cl; P.P.P., Mount Eden, 15s: E.E.S. and E.A.S., 10s each; total to date, £9950 6s 2d. TRAMWAYMEN'S GIFT. £IOO FROM AUCKLAND. The sum of £IOO had been donated to the relief of distress in the earthquake area bv the Auckland Tramways' Union. The gift was authorised at a general meeting of member*. The money is to be taken from the union's funds and sent to the Leader of the Labour Party, Mr.H. E. Holland, for distribution. Subscriptions are also be;ng taken up among the union's members. RESPONSE IN COUNTRY, LISTS GROW 1 At Cambridge the Waikato Independent list for earthquake relief totals £442 12s To Awamutu's contributions to the relief fund now exceed £220, in addition to £SO donated by tho Waipa. County; Council direct, to the central fund. A dance was held at the Waitomo Caves Hall at the week-end in aid of'tfie Te Kuiti fund. The sum of £3B was raised. This amount brings the fund up to about £250. The Waitomo County, Council has voted £2O to tho earthquake relief fund.

The Tauranga County Council lias decided to contribute. £25 for the relief of sufferers.

The Southland County Council voted £250 to the Southland earthquake fund, which now amounts to £1640. The Mayor has sent the first instalment, £1230, to the Prime Minister.
