VACANT ARCHBISHOPRIC

MELBOURNE ANGLICAN SEE. OFFER TO ENGLISH RECTOR. (Received July 12. 10.15 p.m.) MELHOURNE, July 12

It is understood that the Electoral Board of the Anglican Synod, which is dealing with the selection of a new Archbishop of Melbourne, in succession to the late Dr. Harrington Lees, proposes to offer the vacant see to the Rev. Travers Guy Rogers, Rector of Birmingham, and a chaplain to the King.

Tho Rev. Travers Guy Rogers has been Rector of Birmingham since 1925. He was at Trinity College, Dublin. His first curacy was in Dublin, and he was later at Monkstown, St. Barnabas, Kensington, Holy Trinity, Murylobone and vicar of St Stephen's, Reading, 1909-15. Ho was for some time a chaplain to the Forces, and from 1916 to 1925 Vicar of West Ham. Ho has published various books, including " Tho Inner Life," and he contributed to the Liberal Evangelical Essays, 1923 and 1925. He married Miss Inez Hartley, of Sunningdale, in 1924.
