HELPING EX-SOLDI ERS

GRANT FOR EMPLOYMENT

[BY TELEGRAPH. —IT. ESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The War Funds Council met at Parliament House yesterday. A resolution oi appreciation ot the Hon. \V L> Stewart's services as Min-ister-in-Charge of War Funds and for the interest displayed by him m patriotic matter was carried unanimously.

It was decided that a Uirthei sum of £SOOO bo authorised to assist in the relief of unemployed soldiers during the forthcoining year.

A resolution was passed recommending tho Government to accord furthej assistance to South African veterans

Pleasure was expressed that ai this date bequests made for the benefit of exsoldiers showed that their services were still remembered.

The disposal ol the remaining portion of the Methodist war fund was finalised. The moneys will be used in the assistance of padres in accordance with the original purposes.

The accumulated fund of tho trust stands at £162,133 19s 7d, in addition to which there are trust funds of £6091 15s 9d.
