FORMATION OF SOCIETY.

MEETING NEXT WEDNESDAY

The Auckland Zoological Society is to be brought into being at a meeting convened by the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, to be held in the Town Hall next Wednesday. The formation of the society was suggested by the Mayor some months a;;". Its primary objects are to encourage the study of zoology, to promote knowledge and interest in the native fauna of New Zealand, and encourage its protection, '»nd to provide for the steady acquisition for the zoo of a representative collection of the fauna of the world.

Although the society will be a separate incorporated body, it is the intention of the council to extend to the members privileges in connection with the zoo.
