BRANCH POST OFFICE.

WEST OF QUEEN STREET. SUPPORT BY BUSINESS MEN. Pledging ' themselves to support a branch post office in the area west of Queen Street, 50 business men from that, district yesterday endorsed the action of' a few of their number in endeavouring to obtain tho extra postal facilities and agreed to press for the fulfilment of their wishes. Tho meeting was held after luncheon, and was presided over by Mr. R. A. Laidlaw, who briefly explained what had been done.

Resolutions wcro passed congratulating Mr. W. E. Parry, M.P. for Auckland Central, on his advocacy of the branch post office and asking him to continue his efforts. An assurance was also tendered to the Post and Telegraph Department that those present were willing to give tho fullest information so that tho urgency of the claim could be made evident. It was considered that tho interests of businesses in the area could be better safeguarded and advanced by tho formation of a business men's society, and a committee, comprising Messrs. R. A. Laidlaw, J. Hill, Schroff and W. Parkinson, was set up to investigate and report.
