YOKOHAMA TAILOR'S ACTION. STATE RETAINS DEPOSIT. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received May 19, 6.25 p.m.) TOXIC), May 18. A tailor of Yokohama has instituted a suit against the Government, claiming £60,000,000 in respect of a deposit made 40 years ago, with the object of purchasing an extensive tract of land, which the Government failed to return. The Court at Tokio is amazed at the claim, and asserts that there is insufficient in the national Treasury to meet it. However, inquiries are being made.
