WINTER EXHIBITIONS.

DISPLAY AT WHANGAREI. BUTTER AND CHEESE AWARDS. [liV TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAREI. Tuesday. The Winter Exhibition under the auspices of the Whangarei Agricultural and Pastoral Society was opened this evening at seven o'clock, and the big hall in Walton Street presents a very attractive appearance. The Drill Ilall lias, been specially reserved for the school work, needlework and entertainment items. In the annexe garden produce has been arranged, and the eastern portion of this building has been given over to pigeons and poultry. Every part of the exhibition shows an advance, and a further record in attendance should be announced. The official opening will not take place until tomorrow evening, when* the ceremony will be performed by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. The dairy section iu connection with the show has been judged, and the Whangarei factory has won the North Auckland championship. The results are as follows: Box of butter, suitable for export, open to all factories in New Zealand.—Pio Pio, 1; Hikurangi, 2; Whangarei and Oruru, Fail-burn, 3; Rangitaiki Plains, 4. The winner will hold the Davidson Gup for the year. Box of butter suitable for export, February grading (Armour and Company's Cup).—Raglan, 1; Rangitaiki Plains, 2; Hikurangi, 3; Waipu, 4. Trade exhibits, sections for poultry, dogs, home industries, farm crops and school children's work will make a comprehensive display. The exhibition will bo opened to-morrow by Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P., and will extend over four days. In the competition for the best box of export butter the awards made by the dairy produce grader, Auckland, are:— Bay of Plenty Co-operative Dairy Association, 94 points, 1; Hikurangi Dairy Company, 93J;, 2; Tauranga Co-operative Dairy Association, 93, 3.
