WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
SOCIETY FOR PROTECTION. The executive committee of the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children met on Monday, the chairman, the Rev. P. S. Smallfield, presiding. The secretary reported that 41 new cases had been dealt with since the last, meeting. Of these 24 concerned husbands and wives, seven concerned children, seven various matters and six dealt with maintenance. There had been 331 office interviews and 16 cases had been sent to the solicitor. The inspector had paid 67 visits and had spent seven mornings in the Magistrate's Court.
