THE KING'S THANKS.
DONOR OF £105,000. LETTER OF APPRECIATION. British Wireless. RUGBY. April 30. The following letter has beon addressed by Lord Stamfordham, King George's pri vate secretary, to " Audax," the donor of £105,000 to the thanksoffering fund for the King's recovery. " Dear ' Audax,' —Your proposal to express your gratitude for the King's recovery in the noble and generous manner indicated in your letter is welcomed with a feeling of deep appreciation by His Majesty. " The gift of £105,000 will, indeed, form a splendid nucleus to the appeal made by King Edward's Hospital Fund for London, and the King knows by experience that whatever may be the amount of this thanksoffering it will be wisely and effectively administered by the council." " For almost 30 years His Majesty has taken the deepest interest in tho fund, of which he was president for about nine years, and ho realises what the hospitals of London owe to its admirable work and administration.
"Moreover, at "this time of recovery from his long and serious illness the King recognises bis debt of gratitude to the doctors, surgeons and nurses, and that it is in the great hospitals that both medical science has developed and the nursing profession has been trained to its present standard of excellence."
