DISAPPEARANCE OF SENTRY
BUCKINGHAM PALACE POST.
RIFLE FOUND IN PARK.
LONG SEARCH IN VAIN.

United Service. LONDON, May 1. Scotland Yard detectives and the military authorities are investigating the disappearance from Buckingham Palace of a sentry of the Scots Guards, whose absence a patrolling policeman reported at 3 a.m.
The precincts of the Palace were unavailingly soarched until daylight. A busby and a rifle were found in Green Park, 200 yards from the Palace, but the bayonet is still missing. The Daily Mail says that the disap. pearance of a sentry from his post while on guard at the Palace is unparalleled in the history of the Army.
