VOTING IN THE CITY
POLL NOT A HEAVY ONE. FIFTY PER CENT. OF ELECTORS. Yesterday's poll in the city cannot be regarded as heavy judging by the number of votes cast in the mayoral election, which affords a fairly accurate gauge of the volume of public interest manifested. On the provisional count made last evening, 23,896 persons voted compared with 21,197 at the elections two years ago. The roll was greater on the present, occasion, due chiefly to the inclusion of Tarnaki and Avondale in the city, the total being 47,795. The analysis shows that approximately 50 per cent, of the electors exercised their right.
