CHAIRMAN'S LARGE MAJORITY.
DEFEAT OF MR. J. HISLOP. With three exceptions, all the members of the Auckland Harbour Board will be in office again for a further term. Of seven who had to contest their seats at the poll six have been returned. Only Mr. J. Hislop (North Shore) failed, Mr. A. E. Greenslade defeating him by a margin of more than two to one. The four Auckland City members were returned by comfortable majorities over six other aspirants. The retiring chairman, Mr. 11. R. Mackenzie, and the vicechairman, Mr. M. H. Wynyard, had easy victories in their respective districts. Two changes in the board's personnel are accounted for by the recent death of Mr. G. Parr (Waikato boroughs) and the nomination of Mr. E. Aldridge as Government representative in place of the Hon. E. W. Alison. The following are the polling figures:— AUCKLAND CITY. Successful. *G. R. Hutchinson . .. 13,778 *T.
