SUBURBAN RESULTS.

CONTEST AT TAKAPUNA.

SITTING MAYOR RETURNED.

CHANGES IN THE COUNCIL.

LAST-MINUTE RUSH OF VOTERS.

Against two opponents Mi'. J. W. Williamson was re-elected Mayor of Takapnna by a majority of 354 votes. Several new members were elected (o the Borough Council.

Polling was fairly brisk throughout the day. Out of 4343 registered electors, 2423 recorded their votes. The Belmont booth' was congested at the eleventh hour, owing to a rush of voters, who returned by omnibus from the city just before closing time, and the booth was not cleared of voters until 8 o'clock. After the first two returns were declared it was seen that Mr. Williamson had a substantial lead over Mr. A. H. Wilkie, and further returns increased his majority, all booths except those at the Borough Council chambers and at Belmont giving him majorities. The Mayoralty. "J. W. Williamson . . .. 1192 A. 11.
