INCREASE ON LAST YEAR.
FIGURES FOR FOUR MONTHS.
Building permits involving the expenditure of £90,144 were issued by the City Council during April, compared with £53,785 in April last year The total for the first four months of the year is £465,988, against £432,511 for the corresponding period of 1928. Included in last month's permits were 43 dwellings, or 17 more than in the previous April. The figures for each month of the current year, with those for the corresponding months of last year, are as follows: 1929. 1928. January .. £127,599 £68,051 February .. 141,804 211,809 March . . . 106,441 98,866 April . . . . 90,144 53,785 Totals £ 465,988 £ 432,511 Dormitory extensions at the convent in New Street, Ponsonby, made the most expensive work for which a permit was issued last month their cost being estimated at £16,994. The cost of interior alterations at L. D. Nathan's warehouse in High Street was £8241.
