COLLECTION AT OARGAVILLE. SUM OF £SO REALISED. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.], DAEGAVILLE, Wednesday. The annual street collection made by the Dargavillo branch of tho Plunket Society took place yesterday, when, in spite of the bad weather, £SO was realised. An effort is to be made shortly to raise funds to purchase a car for the nurse, whose duties take her over a district extending from Waimamaku to Paparoa and from Pukehuia to To Kopuru. ACTIVITY IN FRANKLIN. EXPANDING FIELD OF SERVICE. [by TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent.] rUKEKOHE, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Franklin branch of tho Plunket Society was held last evening, tho president, Mrs. H. H. D. Wily, presiding. The president reported that during tho past year the work of the branch had continued To expand, more and moro mothers taking advantage of the service provided. Tho Plunket buildings, furnishings and equipment at Pukekoho had now been fully paid for. Tho report of the nurse, Nurse Clark, stated that 5043 visits were made by mothers to tho central room at Pukekohe and 2687 visits at the out-stations.
Tho financial statement, presented by the secretary, Mrs. F. Perkins, showed a credit in hand of £7O. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Dame Christina Massey; president, Mrs, Wily; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. F. McArthur, C. Cooper, H. H. Pattle and G. T. Proude; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Perkins; committee, Mesdames A. F. Brown, F. A. Hosking, L. J. Bayly, J. N. Anderson, B. Raynes, E, F. Snell, P. Boyd and Horwell; advisory board, Dr. A. T. Begg, Dr. J. McWhirter, and Messrs. John Routiy, H. H. D. Wily, F. Perkins, H, H. Pattle, and E. F. Snell; hon. solicitor, Mr. 11. J. Wily; hon. auditor, Mr. 11. 11. O'Loughlin.
