FOUR MONTHS' RAIN.
INCREASE ON LAST YEAR. OVER INCHES IN APRIL. The rainfall during April was slightly above the average. According to observations taken in Albert Park, 4.52 in. of rain fell up to !) a.m. yesterday. This is .75in. above tho month's average, although l.'lOin. lower than the abnormally heavy rainfall in March. It is not infrequent for April rains to be less copious than thosei of March. The rainfall for tho first four months of the year aggregated 12.13 in., an increase of 1.97 in. on the corresponding period of last year, but lower than it 1927. Tho following table shows the rainfall for the first four months of this year and the three preceding years:—

The weather in Auckland during the past month was unsettled, although bright sunshine was over the average. Electrical disturbances were a marked feature, thunder occurring; on six days. The temperatures wers generally mild, the mean maximum temperature being 66 degrees and the mean minimum temperature 55 degrees. The extreme maximum temperature was 74 degrees on April 13 and the mean minimum temperature was 46 degrees on April 7. The period of bright sunshine totalled 169 hours 20 minutes. There was a considerable range in the barometer, the highest reading being 30.30 in. ami the lowest 29.10 in.
