DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.
DWELLING AT PONSONBY.
FLAMES SWEEP INTERIOR.
The interior of a two-storeyed house ai 3, Arthur Street, Ponsonby, was completely gutted by fire which broke out early yesterday morning. /The house, which contained 12 rooms, was owned by Mrs. K. Gavegan, and although unoccupied, was furnished at the time of the outbreak.
Neighbours who were awakened by tho Sames gave the alarm, but. the City and Ponsonby brigades were unable to save the interior, and hact great .difficulty, in preventing the total destruction of' the building. Tho house is insured for £15)00 in tha South 33ritish Office and! the contents for £650 in the same office. j OUTBREAK AT DUKEDIN. PRINTING WORKS DAMAGED. [BY TSLESJEAPH. —PEESSS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Tuesday. Fire broke out last evening in th« printing works at the rear of Messrs. Whitcombe and Tombs' building, Princes Street, Dunedin. The brigade effected a good save, but the machinery and paper in the printing works and tho warehouse below were damaged by water. The total insurance on the building, plant and stock is £83,000.
