FIRE ON THE SUSSEX.
OUTBREAK EXTINGUISHED.
REPAIRS TO BE EFFECTED.
Further advice has been, received by the Union Steam Ship Company regarding the steamer Sussex, which returned to Samarang on Friday evening with her No. 4 hold on fire. The message states the fire has been extinguished, and tho vessel sailed yesterday for Sour.ibaya, another port in 3ava, to unload the cargo from the after holds and to have repairs effected. The Sussex is fully loaded with Eastern produce from Calcutta, Rangoon, Penang, Singapore and Samarang for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttolton and Dunedin. The firo broke out ip. the hold shortly after the vessel left Samarang for Aucklancl last Friday morning. (
