HOBSON BAY.
Sir,—Mf, Whitney's generous offer of £IOO toward the splendid idea of reclaiming Hobson Bay for an Eiviation, sports and recreation ground, is one of the best items that has appeared in your paper for a long time. I think all Auckland should exert itself to get the scheme put into shape at once. In my opinion this is the most sensible proposal yet made to help lessen unemployment in Auckland, as everything in connection with the scheme lends itself to a successful issue, the material for the work is on the spot, its proximity to town, where most of the workers reside is an important factor, and its value to Auckland and the world would be immense. I feel sure if this matter is taken up by the proper parties and put into shape without delay it will bo a huge success and solve the main trouble of unemployment for the coming winter. The scheme affords a splendid chance to collect the £25,000 required for the Government subsidy, as hundreds would probably like to contribute toward such a work. Hoi'EFUL.
