ACCLIMATISATION WORK.

ACTIVITIES AT TAURANGA. OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR. [by telegraph.-—own correspondent.] TAURANGA, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Tauranga Acclimatisation Society was held last evening. Mr. J. A. McKenzic presiding. The report stated that during the past year the sopiety liberated 260 pheasants, and hoped to liberate another 100 or more after tho close of the shooting season. Tho revenue from trout fishing licences had fallen off, and this was duo to tho fact that Tauranga licences were not now available for the llotorua district. Tho shooting prospects for this season were good. More stocking with yearling trout was required, and 100,000 rainbow trout fry wero put int'o the streams at Katikati, Tauranga and To Puke, and 5000 fry wcro placed in a specially-constructed pond at Oropi, to bo kept for a year before being liberated. Tho balance-sheet disclosed a credit balance of £302. The purchaso of pheasants cost £221 and of the trout fry and pond £9O. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers wero elected as follows: —President, Mr. J. A. MeKenzie; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Brown, A. Hardy, It. Cuff; council, Messrs. T. 11. Ilall, F. V. Pcmbcrton, W. F. Sinclair, A. S. Hynds, E. S. lvnowles, E. Pemberton (Tauranga), J. Brown and W. Pilcher (To Puke), W. 11. Reynolds (Otamarakau); auditor, Mr. W. j. Bargent; secretary, Mr. P. Lamley. It was decided that tho payment for hawks' feet bo increased to 9d per pair.
