INCREASE IN ACTIVITIES. w The annual meeting of the Auckland 'branch of the Society for the Protection / of Women and Children was held in St. Paul's parish hall last evening, Mr. A. -;. J. Strctford. presiding. Tho report of the committee stated that it was considered the conditions in the .city during tho past 12 months had been . responsible for. a considerable increase in "the work of'the society. During the year 469, new cases had been dealt with. Matri- . inonial troubles were the most numerous. Of the 459 cases. 107 were sent to tho "society's solicitor. The inspector had '■paid 345 Visits to homes and attended the Magistrate's Court on 59 occasions. The secretary, Miss N. L.' Dash, the inspector, Mrs./M. Parsons, and the collector, Mrs. TJ. Travis, had resigned.
