HIGHWAY TO KUMEU.
PLANS 3 FOR IMPROVEMENT. COUNTY LOAN PROPOSAL. Proposals by the Waitemata County. Council to raise loans for road works were considered at a meeting of ratepayers at the Hobsonville Hall on Monday evening. Mr. R. Ockleston presided. Mr. F. W. Grigg, the member for the riding, and Mr. A. Murray, the county engineer, attended and addressed the meeting.
It was proposed to borrow £20,000, £IO,OOO to be spent on the main highway to Kumeu, the remainder to be used for bridges and other roads. Satisfaction was generally expressed at the liberal way the Main Highways Board had met the ratepayers. The plant for roadmaking could not get to some places because the bridges ware too weak. After a number of questions had been answered the meeting carried a resolution in favour of the loan.
