JUNIOR TENNIS PLAYERS.

NEW ZEALAND TOURNEY. FIXTURE AT WELLINGTON. [B? TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Sunday. Owing to the initiative and enthusiasm of Mr. W. J. Melody, of Wellington, the first comprehensive New Zealand junior tennis championship for boys and girls under 18 years will be held next month on the Tennis Association's courts at Wellington. Each association is allowed to nominate juniors of both sexes. Entries will close with the secretary of the New Zealand Association, Wellington, on April 30. The association guarantees £1 toward each player's expenses, and the remainder will be borne proportionately by the players of the local association concerned. Fares are to be paid from an accumulated fund. All players will bo billeted in Wellington during the tournament without any other expense. Already entries have been notified from the Canterbury, Auckland, Wellington, Wairarapa and Wanganui Associations. A special committee has been set up by the New Zealand Association, and all boys and girls entering will be properly looked after and assured of helpful games, even should they bo eliminated in the early stages of the championships. The tournament will represent a bold step to further the cause of junior tennis.
