PRESERVATION DESIRED.
MOUNT MAUNGANUI SETTLERS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.! TAURANGA, Sunday.
At a public meeting at Mount Maunganui at the week-end reference was made to the proposal to subdivide Mount Drury. The opinion was expressed that it should be kept intact as an endowment. A motion was unanimously adopted that in the opinion of the meeting it would be extremely objectionable to do anything with Mount Drury outsido its preservation as a public reserve, and that the Harbour Board's attention be drawn to its pledges in regard to keeping the reserve intact.
Candidates for tho forthcoming local body elections addressed the meeting, when various matters affecting Mount Maunganui were ventilated. A pipe and case were presented to Mr. B. Dive, chairman of the Mount Maunganui Domain Board, in recognition of his services in the past 10 years.
