SIR GEORGE FOWLDS' POSITION

The chancellor of the Otago University has received the following letter from Sir George Fowlds:—
I regret that I was induced by newspaper reports to make a statement which rejected against your council and the council of Canterbury College regarding applications to the Carnegie Trustees for grants. I gladly accept the disclaimer made by yourself and the vice-chancellor, and withdraw any suggestion of smart and dishonourable actions on the part of your council."
