CONTROL OF HIGHWAYS.
REQUEST FROM TAURANGA.
[ey telegraph.—own correspondent.] TAURANGA, Sunday. About 60 ratepayers attended a meeting yesterday convened by the Tauranga branch of the Farmers' Union to hear the views of candidates who are seeking election to the local bodies of Tauranga. A great amount' of interest was taken and a motion was unanimously adopted asking that legislation be introduced for the Main Highways Board to take over the control of the main highways throughout New Zealand. It was decided to forward a copy of tho resolution -to the Prime Minister.
