DEVIL'S ISLE FUGITIVE.
MARRIAGE IN VENEZUELA. Dr. Bougrat, a Marseilles physician, who escaped from Devil's Island, the French penal settlement, on which ho was serving a life sentence, for murder, has married in Venezuela, where he took refuge. His former,, wife, who still resides in Marseilles, obtained a divorce from tlio doctor shortly before Ins trini. Dr. Bougrat is practising his profession in Venezuela.
Tho murder for which Dr. Bougrat was sentenced sent a thrill of horror throughout France, and led to remarkable scenes at his trial, where troops had to clear the Court of spectators, who shouted horrible imprecations at tho prisoner in tho dock. Dr. Bougrat was proved to havo murdered ono of his patients, Jacques Rumellos, and to have walled up tho body in his surgery. Rumelles was a debt collector, and at the timo of his disappearance had £3OO in his possession.
