MOTOR-CYCLE FATALITY.
CHARGE AGAINST DRIVER. YOUTH COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. A charge of negligently driving a motorbicycle, thereby causing tho death of Adrian K. Poynter, was preferred against Oliver Godfrey, aged 19 (Mr. Hogben) in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M. Evidence was given that Poynter, who was a friend of accused, was riding on the pillion of Godfrey's machine on the night of February 3 last. When they were travelling along Khyber Pass Road, about 10 o'clock, they collided with a motorcar. Both were thrown from the bicycle and wore iremoved to the Auckland Hospital unconscious. Two hours after admission Poynter succumbed. Death was duo to severe injuries to the head, including a fracture of the skull. A plea of not guilty was entered by accused, who reserved his defence. He was committed to the Supreme Court for trial in May. Bail was allowed.
