NORTHCOTE WOMEN.
LEAGUE'S TENTH BIRTHDAY. The tenth anniversary of tho Northcoto Women's Progressive League was celebrated by a social afternoon in the Northcoto Parish Hall on Thursday. Tho president, Mr. J. W. McLaughlin, welcomed the large gathering of visitors and members; Representatives were present from the Civic League, Victoria League, Philanthropic Society, Benevolent Society, and Birkdale Ladies' Institute. Competitions provided interest and amusement, and a musical programme was enjoyed. Tho performers were: Misses George, who gave a pianoforte duet; Miss Phyllis Johnston (London), recitation and songs; Miss Edna Peace, songs; Mrs. J. E. Mays, elocutionary items. Miss George was the accompaniste.
