AORANGI EPISODE.
PASSENGERS QUESTIONED. STORY OF STOLEN NAVAL PLANS. Australian Press Association—United Service (Received March 31, 5.5 p.m.) VANCOUVER, March 30.
It was reported yesterday that two men and one woman, third-class passengers by the Aorangi, had been placed under technical arrest on the arrival of the vessel at Victoria, British Columbia, on cabled instructions from Australia. '.I he report was that the three people were suspected of having in their possession stolen naval plans.
The greatest secrecy marked the investigations, which were carried out by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arid naval officers from the Esquimnlt naval station. It is now stated that the mounted police authorities deny having held the three passengers. They admit having questioned them.
No official statement could be obtained that naval documents were involved.
