The occupant of a four roomed cottage in Lupton Avenue, Mr. S. Irwin, was awakened at 2.20 this morning by smothering smoke. lie jumped through a window and sounded tho alarm. When the brigade arrived the cottage was blazing, but a good savo was effected. Mr. Irwin had packed his personal belongings in preparation for moving to-day, a new caretaker having been appointed. Thp cottage was insured for £IOO.
