NEW PAPAL STATE.
MEMBERSHIP OF LEAGUE. APPLICATION ANTICIPATED. Australian, and N.Z. Press Association. (Received February 4, 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 4. The new Papal State is expected almost immediately to seek membership of the Assembly and the Council of the League of Nations, according to the diplomatic correspondent of tho League of Nations. He says there may be serious embanassmeut over the question whether the new State should be given a permanent seat or be elected to a non-permanent teat on the Council.
It will be strongly argued that such a strong world Power ought not to be subjected to the risks of an election.
