BRIBES FROM NIGHT CLUBS.

DEMAND FOR RECOVERY.

Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LONDON, Feb. 1

Neither the ex-police Sergeant Goddard nor Ilibufii, who were sent to gaol on bribery charges intend to appeal against their conviction. Tho police at tho London headquarters are concentrating unhindered upon sorting out the affairs of night dubs. It is stated that more than half the banknotes which comprised Goddard's nest egg of £12,000 have been traced through the accounts of night clubs and restaurants.

Goddard has applied to the Commissioner of Police. Viscount Byng, through legal channels," for the return of his seized deposits. Failing this he intends to issue a writ in the High Court. The early tightening up of tho methods of tho polico in the supervision of night clubs is expected to follow frequent conferences between the Homo Secretary, Sir William Joynson-Hicks and Lord Byng. It is most unlikely that anyone in future will have anything like Goddard's free hand or one man job. %
