LONDON, Feb. 3

The condition of tho King is unchanged. It is not disclosing a . secret to state that the rate of progress made by His Majesty of late has not been as rapid as was hoped.

There are great expectations in regard to the King's visit to Bognor. He is to go there by road in a motor-ambulance He will be accompanied by a doctor and a nurse. Probably the trip will, be made on Thursday. A British official wireless message says medical papers published this week refer to the slow but steady progress toward convalescence which the King continues to make. Tho British Medical Journal says bacteriological tests confirm the clinical evidence that the right side of His Majesty's chest is now free from infection. His pulse remains quiet, his sleep is better, and he can take solid food in larger amounts.

This gratifying improvement recorded last week has been maintained, and further news may be looked for from time to time of advances along the uphill road to recovery.

The Lancet says the progress of the King will become more rapid when he arrives at the south coast.
