LONDON MERCHANT'S GIFT.

BEQUEST FROM WELLINGTON.

Tlio Massev Agricultural Collego at Palmerston North has been generously tßcated by many people and institutions interested in the national character of its work, and among tlio latest gifU is a scholarship dairy factory management, to tho value of £25 » year. Tho chairman of the college council* Sir George Fowlds, upon returning to Auckland yesterday morning, received a joint loiter from Messrs. Leonard and Sou, of Auckland, and Mr. Thomas Gray, of Wellington, agrnts for Mr. A. C. Rowson, principal of tho Loudon dairy produce firm of that name, announcing that Mr. ' Itowson hid decided to donate a scholarship of tho valuo of £25 a year for tho dairy factory managers' course. It will he tenable for three years, contingent upon tho student making satisfactory progress.

It is also announced that tho bequest mado to tho college under the will of tho lato Mr. W. H. Bailey, of Wellington, will approximate £SOCO. Friesian breeders from many quarters havo been particularly generous to tho institution, some giving the best of their pedigree herds. At least eight pedigreo Friesians havo been donated and some Jerseys. Other valuable gifts havo included farm implements, electric appliances and motors, dairying machinery and building materials. The library of the Massey College has been enriched by a diversity of gifts in book form. To instance but a few, there aro tho volumes of tho Annals of tho American Academy of Political and Social Science; 29 volumes of "Transactions of tho Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland"; the "Lands and Survey Reports of New Zealand," 1877 to 1927; and flock and stock books of breeders' societies.
