GERMAN DELEGATION. RENEWAL OF RELATIONS. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. BERLIN. Nov. 22. A Geinian delegation is going (o Moscow with a view in the renewal of trade relations, which have been suspended since (he Donciz espionage trial in May. The formation of the mission is ascribed to tile realisation of I lie seriousness of American competition.
The. Russians charged 53 persons, including three Germans, with sabotage at electrical works at Donetz, in the Don region. Two wero acquitted and one was sentenced to imprisonment for one year. They had been kept under arrest for mouths. A message from Berlin, on July 7, said: The general view in Berlin is that the relations between Germany and Russia have suffered severely, and will not bo immediately healed by the release of tlio accused German engineers. The lesson drawn is that the negotiations for a revision of the trade treaty, which were suspended by the arrests of the three Germans, must in fiituro be directed chiefly to obtaining, adequate guarantees for German industry. A situation in which German engineers can bo imprisoned for months on trumpery charges and extravagant accusations can bo made against German firms is regarded as an impossible one. Unless satisfactory assurances are given it is felt that industrial co-operation between the two countries must inevitably suffer.
