MR. H. P. WHITNEY'S FORTUNE
LARGEST EVER VALUED
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received November 23, 5.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 22. The Taxation Bureau announces that the estate of the late Mr. Harry Payne Whitney has been valued at £35,778,733 net. The gross value of the estate was £38.865,730. This is the largest estate ever valued in the 43 years' history of the bureau. The largest pnor valuation was £21,400,000.
Mr. Harry Payno Whitney was a banker, and interested in mining and other interests He was born in 1872, ami in 1896 married Miss Gertrude Vanderbilt. a daughter of the wealthy Cornelius Vanderbilt. He was well known in Enghfnd, where he was a member of many clubs, including the Royal Thames Yacht, the Hurlingham Automobile, Coaching and similar clubs.
